Help Rescue a Horse

The Hope Fund Collection

“Animal Cruelty” – “Neglect” and “Abuse” – what exactly does it all mean and who is affected?  I had not thought too much about Animal Cruelty when I was a young girl – who would have thought that someone would harm an animal. But as I became and adult clarity began to happen, reading articles or hearing news reports of how a person – young or not so young harms a family pet, a stray animal, livestock or a horse.

I began Peaceful Acres as a lesson barn for people to come to take riding lessons and enjoy the environment with horses. I then developed programs using empowerment riding and Equine Assisted Learning and Psychotherapy. Out of that mission and vision came a program that I am the most inspired by – Rescues Rescue Us.

Peaceful Acres began getting contacted to help Save. Rescue or Adopt horses that were no longer able to be cared for or who were in an environment that they needed to be removed from.  We decided to do our part and get involved to provide a  “forever – loving home” for some – we realize we can’t save them all – but we can have a roll. Perhaps that roll is to help in legislation and rallying others to help.

Recently we were called in on a case of “animal cruelty” (an open case so details are being withheld), where numerous horses were in a state of “neglect”, said to be at risk due to “emaciation, starvation and dehydration”.  Seeing the horses and remembering the atmosphere and conditions causes my heart to race and tears to fall. I was awakened from the state of being I had as a little girl – one of ignorance and bliss when it came to the animal and human relationship and connection. I saw first hand along with several Peaceful Acres volunteers the affects “Neglect” has on the physical, emotional and spiritual condition of horses.

Peaceful Acres is now a Forever - Loving Home  for Angel – Hope and Spirit Boy, bi-products of “neglect”, who along with other starving horses are in need of care and resources.  Along with Nutrena Feeds we will begin to work to bring their body conditions to a healthy point. Peaceful Acres will do it’s part to save these three precious souls, and will work with others to help spread awareness and stop this type of abuse from happening. We hope there will be legislation to build better regulations and laws associated with entrapment of horses, neglect and abuse.

We are pleading and reaching out to our community to help us bring the horses back to physical, emotional and spiritual condition that allows them to once again have strength, hope and trust.

You may sponsor Angel – Hope or Spirit Boy by making a contribution for their care. A sponsor sheet is available on our website.
