Horses – Care Costs…are
The horses at Peaceful Acres Horses Inc, are provided the best in feed and care, the reality of this is that the costs are increasing and the giving has decreased due to a declining economy.
Peaceful Acres feeds quality Nutrena Products and locally grown hay for forage. Providing the best in feed and care is expensive – here is a look at the average feed and care costs that Peaceful Acres has.
Approximately 100 bags of Nutrena Safe Choice is feed per month totaling 5000 pounds of grain! A costs of $1,350.00 per month! Nutrena graciously helps Peaceful Acres by providing 500 pounds of grain free of charge each month – thanks Nutrena! Nutrena also offers Club Support where Peaceful Acres is able to collect UPC Tags off bags of grain ours and other farms – these are then redeemed for cash or credit with Nutrena. If you own a horse, you can save your UPC Tags and send them to Peaceful Acres where our horses will receive a benefit!
Hay – our horses are provided hay as “free choice”. In other words – our horses are fed 2 times a day – but also have hay throughout the day to assist with proper digestion and maintenance of weight. We feed quality forage – our hay bales weigh about 80-90 pounds. The farm uses about 15 bales a day … 450 bales a month! About 5,400 bales a year are consumed by the horses in sanctuary here at Peaceful Acres!

Grain Costs: $18,000.00 per year
Hay Costs: $17,000.00 per year
Veterinary Costs: $300.00 per horse - $9000.00 per year

Farrier Care: $15,000.00 per year
Shavings/Bedding: $12,000.00 per year
