Will you choose Captain to Sponsor?

There he was tiny and afraid, he no longer knew where he was, who all the other horses were, or what was happening to his life. He was in a holding pen with 20+ other minis and ponies who would soon ship to slaughter to become zoo food. He wasn’t untrained, he was not injured, he was not sick or old. He had been someone’s mini horse, pet just days before Peaceful Acres Horses found him in the “holding pen”. He was perfect! He was loving! He was beautiful! And he was about to be saved by Peaceful Acres Horses!

How this ever happens used to puzzle me, I just could not wrap my head around how or why so many perfect equines, big and small, end up in holding pens, destined for slaughter. When I first learned the hard and gruesome facts of the slaughter of American equines, I knew I needed to get involved in advocacy. That was a long time ago, around 2005 when I attended my first auction where kill-buyers lurked around every corner and poked fun and laughed about the horses that they would soon be shipping to their painful death. That day, etched in my mind, was the day I knew my life was going to have meaning and purpose, I would save as many as I could and attract others to follow me and help me to accomplish a lifesaving and sustaining mission. Peaceful Acres Horses, Inc. nonprofit organization was formed as a 501 C 3 charitable organization less than 2 years later.

Captain is one of the nearly 300 equines that Peaceful Acres Horses has saved and restored from cruelty, neglect, and the slaughter pipeline. Captain is PERFECT! He is loved by everyone who meets him, especially his equine-guided emotionally supportive coaching course participants! He helps people to find joy in a joyless day. He offers friendship to a person who feels isolated and alone. He gives hope, happiness, and love graciously to everyone he meets.

Captain was saved by Peaceful Acres Horses, and now his life has abundant purpose and hope. Through our programs, Captain can make a positive difference in the lives of people who are struggling with loss, grief, sadness, anxiety, and need to find friendship, love, compassion, and hope.

We do not know Captain’s past, but we sure know what he has done here with us at PAH for the people he meets. He is one of our minis making a difference in the lives of youth and adults and we hold so much gratitude for Captain! We LOVE You Captain!
